It’s probably not the first thing that you think of when you are travelling to work, or heading on a scenic trip via rail across Europe but even the train you are travelling on is connected to the Internet and a potential target for a cyber-attack. In this talk, I will present a recent case study that ALTEN Denmark has worked on to design a secure Train Control Management System and some of the obstacles we had to consider for remote software deployment, user access, patch updates and network segmentation. After all, getting fresh air at 200km/h when the passenger doors suddenly open isn’t something you really have on your bucket list is it?
