ALTEN took the lead in the delivery of a new web solution to the Swedish Pensions Agency where we implemented the Agile method with SAFe.
An important part of deliveries was that the Swedish Pensions Agency needed to get help from a Product Owner with experience in agile development to act as Product Owner (PO) for a development team in an Agile Release Trains within the framework of SAFe, and in the long run also act as a mentor for new PO’s.
Another major part of the work was to lead a development team and Scrum Master of about 10 people remotely, and also introducing new members without previous experience from the Swedish Pensions Agency’s technical solutions.
ALTEN turned challenges into successes stories
- Turned challenges around requirements to having a clear process for how to work with and document it. We also implemented weekly reconciliation meetings with other teams to discuss dependencies on these.
- Worked to reverse the challenge that distance meetings had brought into good communication and a good way of working.
- Tested and adapted different methods of development cooperation for experienced and less experienced to work together and thus increase the general level of competence.
- Promoted members to seek support from other teams in the release train as well as with business experts as soon as needed, which had a good effect.
- Created an improved implementation of estimation of features and stories to achieve more accurate time estimates, as well as more collaborative development work than before.
